Lietlinen (Lithuania) is one of the three production sites of Linificio e Canapificio Nazionale where traditional, special, 100% linen and blended yarns are produced.
Here, in 2023, the company implemented an efficiency plan for the management of natural resources, with a particular focus on the use of water during the spinning cycle, achieving an initial positive impact.
Thanks to a targeted control, it has been possible to rationalise the amount of water used in the wet spinning of flax, forecasting a reduction in consumption of 6.8%. This means that a water saving of 11,200 cubic metres can be achieved in one year with the plant at full capacity.
Innovation does not stop: it starts with product quality and extends to environmental sustainability.
Linificio’s commitment and results prove that even in the textile industry it is possible to operate with a greater sense of responsibility.
In addition to the direct benefit for the company, in fact, this initiative has a lasting effect on the surrounding environment and the local community, helping to preserve natural resources for future generations: a concrete example of how targeted actions can contribute to a more sustainable tomorrow in the textile industry, and beyond.
In a sector often associated with overproduction and polluting textiles, Linificio e Canapificio Nazionale demonstrates that it is possible to combine high quality textile production with lower impact practices. One more step to a more sustainable production model.
