Memories of Industry: Faces and Tales from the Linen Factory

DE FILO has welcomed the community into our textile company, merging art with tradition to commemorate a century and a half of the Linificio and Canapificio Nazionale.

Through our interactions, we discovered that many visitors had familial ties to those who once worked within these walls, sharing a connection to the legacy of linen production.

Thus, Memories of Industry: Faces and Tales from the Linen Factory was conceived, a project aimed at intertwining personal narratives with archival photographs.

In partnership with the Municipality of Villa d’Almè and with the invaluable support of the Municipal Library, we extend an invitation to the community to join us in reconstructing the historical tapestry of our region, tracing and rediscovering the common thread that binds us.

To participate:

From April 8 to July 31, 2024, kindly complete the release form and submit your story along with any related photos to the Villa d’Almè Municipal Library. Librarian Erika will digitize your submission and provide a copy to Linificio.

For those wishing to share directly their digital materials or seeking further details, please reach out to defilo@linificio.it

This initiative invites the community to contribute their stories and related photos, fostering a collaborative effort to preserve and celebrate the legacy of linen production. Through collaborating with local entities like the Municipality of Villa d’Almè and the Municipal Library, the project seeks to engage individuals in rediscovering and sharing the rich history that connects them to the region’s industrial past.
