The 30th edition of the International Lab of Mittelmoda – The Fashion Award, reserved to fashion designers and fashion design students of Art & Design colleges from all over the world, saw the participation of 530 students from 13 countries and 21 design institutes. 26 finalists had the opportunity to present their creations to a jury chaired by Matteo Marzotto. Among the jurors was Cinzia Xodo, Communication Manager of Linificio e Canapificio Nazionale, alongside journalists and fashion industry experts .
The Linen Award, supported by the Linen Section of SMI – Sistema Moda Italia, of which Linificio is a member, was awarded to Yuhei Ueda, a Japanese student from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
Yuhei Ueda commented on his collection:
“To rediscover the essence of modern fashion, I explored pre-industrial garments and fabrics. My collection uses natural fabrics and draws inspiration from workwear cutting techniques. I partially dyed some pieces and reinterpreted the patterns of red-striped kitchen towels, a symbol of design passed down through time. I aim to offer a sense of quality and luxury through this commitment to traditional materials and techniques.”
By supporting emerging talents like Yuhei Ueda, Linificio e Canapificio Nazionale reaffirms its commitment to promoting sustainable and innovative fashion, contributing to the growth of the industry and new generations.
